Dayna Steele to Emcee Live Auction 5th Annual Larry Dierker "My Team" Celebrity Golf Tournament

HOUSTON, January 7, 2011 -- Dayna Steele, author and recent Champions of Literacy honoree will team up with Larry Dierker as emcee and live auctioneer for the 5th Annual Larry Dierker "My Team" Celebrity Golf Tournament. The retired Houston Astros pitcher and author of My Team and It Ain't Brain Surgery hosts the annual tournament benefiting Literacy Advance of Houston. Steele, the "First Lady of Rock ‘n' Roll in Houston" was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in November.

The tournament will be held at the BlackHorse Golf Club which is located at 12205 Fry Road, Cypress, Texas 77396.

"Golf and Larry Dierker . . . how could you say no?" says Steele, a Literacy Advance Champion of Literacy along with her husband and author Charles Justiz. The admitted bad golfer added, "Charlie and I are thrilled to be a part of the tournament this year. As the event emcee, I guarantee a wild time back at the clubhouse following play with food, drink and the live and silent auctions."

"I play in dozens of tournaments every year that raise a lot of money for various organizations, many of which represent serious diseases. I am happy to do that. I'm not a doctor; I cannot cure a disease. At Literacy Advance I am personally part of the solution and I know we make a difference," Dierker said. As the education level of adults improves, so does their children's success in school. Helping low-literate adults improve their basic skills has a direct and measurable impact on both the education and quality of life of their children.

Business Community Partners and sponsors of the event include Anheuser-Busch, BMC Software, Cameron, Comcast, Consolidated Cable, ESPN 97.5 FM, Intec Communications, Midway Companies, Pinnacle Financial Strategies, Taxis Fiesta, Whataburger, and White Oak Gives Back.

Literacy Advance of Houston is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All proceeds from the event benefit Literacy Advance of Houston, an organization that has transformed lives and communities through its free adult literacy programs for the past 46 years. For more information, go to
